About Nicole

A Dynamic Professional

  • Nicole is an empathetic, passionate, and dedicated professional living in Somerville, MA. By trade, she’s a designer and researcher. She confronts problems head on and thrives on making order out of chaos. She loves to think analytically and make beautiful solutions to complex problems.

Web/mobile design? Embedded devices? Program planning? Data management? Market research? Sure, she’s got it covered.

  • Nicole has been lucky enough to experience a broad array of roles, yielding a rich skillset.

From 2010 to 2020, she conducted research and evaluation to measure program impacts and processes from energy-efficiency and renewable-energy incentive programs. Her work involved designing, overseeing, and analyzing results from large-scale surveys, in-depth interviews, focus groups, design charrettes, data reviews, and secondary research.

Recently, she built her own freelance business: consulting in UX/UI design for design agencies as well as helping grow a small real estate development company via web design, social media, & brochures.

Her other professional experience includes conducting carbon emissions analysis for an international think tank while based in Turkey, providing administrative support for not/non-for-profit organizations, and serving as a mental-health counselor.

  • Her work has been bolstered by her varied education.

Nicole received a B.A. in Philosophy, solidifying her ability to think analytically & logically, read critically, and write (a lot).

She earned an M.A. in Sustainable International Development at one of the best social policy schools in the nation where she learned about access to natural resources, project management, international relations, and econometrics.

Most recently, Nicole completed a 10-month UI design immersion certificate program. The program focused on responsive web design, heuristics, hierarchy, icon design, style guides, and animation as well as UX design skills: research methods, wireframing, user psychology, branding, etc. She also completed a specialization course in front-end development, but we wouldn’t set her loose to write her own code!

In her spare time, she continuously works on self-improvement, taking tutorials on data visualization, journey mapping, animation, you name it.

  • Of course! She is always ready to laugh — usually at herself! She’s traveled to 26 countries, 35 U.S. states, and 6 Canadian provinces. She often has a bizarre story to tell about when she said the wrong thing, went the wrong way, and made a decision she learned from.

When she isn’t working, Nicole loves to walk, paddle board, read, do barre workouts, and watch mindless TV. Her favorite parts of life are her loving husband and highly-shedding dog.
